A real place. A measured distance.
Astrocartography Line Distance: How Close Is Close Enough?
Astrocartography line distance measures a city’s proximity to a planetary line. This map labels up to 120 km Strong and over 120–250 km Nearby. You do not need to live directly on a line: the planet, angle, and your goal shape its meaning.

01 / Start with the actual place
How far is the line from my city?
A line crossing your country may still be a long way from your home. Astrocartography line distance is measured from the selected coordinate to the line on your personal map. A named city uses its resolved location; a point elsewhere in the same metropolitan area can have a different distance.
For the synthetic birth used here, New York’s nearby result identifies Mars MC at 196.5 km and Saturn DS at 518.0 km. This is already more specific than “a Mars line near New York”: one line is Nearby, the other Wide, and their angles describe different parts of a reading.
The useful personal answer is the actual line–place relationship. A location reading or Check City supplies those calculated labels and distances. Keep the complete label with the number: a distance to Mars MC does not tell you how close you are to Mars DS.
When checking your own astrocartography line distance, use the place you actually mean. Compare a city center with another city center, or two specific coordinates. A number measured for a different suburb cannot silently stand in for your intended location.

What does “close” mean on this map?
The map’s astrocartography line distance bands help distinguish a nearby signal from distant context. They describe proximity, not a guarantee of support, a prediction, or a boundary where an experience switches on.
- 0–120 kmStrong
- Close proximity. Read the planet and angle carefully; strong can describe support or pressure.
- >120–250 kmNearby
- Still part of the local picture. Compare its relevance to your question with other signals.
- >250–400 kmBroad
- Wider context. Avoid making this one line the entire explanation for a place.
- >400–644 kmWide
- A more distant signal within the map’s usual nearby summary range.
- >644 kmWeak
- Beyond that summary range. A nearest background line can still appear when none is closer.
Strong proximity is not strong suitability
Read Strong as a proximity label. Keep it separate from the support and caution levels attached to your chosen goal.
A band boundary is not a life boundary
At 250 km the label is Nearby; just beyond it, Broad. That change belongs to the map’s classification. It does not establish that a real-world outcome changes abruptly there. Treat a small difference around a boundary with less certainty than the displayed label might suggest.

Should I choose the city closer to a line?
Hold the birth details and question constant. This astrocartography line distance example compares two chosen cities for Career using the standard city comparison.
| City | Primary Career signal | Distance / band | Career result |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York | Mars MC | 196.5 km · nearby | light support low caution |
| London | Sun MC | 244.1 km · nearby | moderate support low caution |
Synthetic example, calculated with the product’s map and standard comparison logic: 15 June 1990, 08:15, New York (America/New_York). City coordinates: New York 40.7128, −74.0060; London 51.5074, −0.1278; Stockholm 59.3293, 18.0686. These are illustrative results for this input, not customer outcomes or a forecast for you.
What changes the comparison?
Both distances sit in the same Nearby band. Sun MC and Mars MC contribute differently to the selected Career goal, so their distance order and support order can disagree.
The result gives you a concrete question: does the public recognition and direction described by London’s Sun MC match what you are seeking, or does New York’s action-oriented Mars MC fit the situation better? The labels are map interpretations; an actual job offer can change your decision.
What can I carry into my own choice?
For a personal astrocartography line distance comparison, bring your current city and a realistic alternative. Read the relevant signals and cautions under the same goal. These results belong to the sample birth details; your own map may place different lines near either city.

Does the nearest line tell the whole story?
Stockholm shows why an astrocartography line distance reading needs more than the first number. In the same synthetic map, three lines fall inside the Strong band, yet they do not answer the same question.
- Mars DS6.0 km
- Mars DS can create attraction and chemistry, but may also bring friction or conflict.
- Neptune IC30.6 km
- Neptune IC can bring dreaminess and sensitivity at home, but may blur boundaries or clarity.
- Jupiter MC109.1 km
- Jupiter MC supports growth, opportunity, public visibility, and career expansion.
The nearest signal is a relationship line
Mars DS is only 6.0 km away. The location reading describes attraction alongside possible friction. But the primary support in the Career comparison comes from Jupiter MC, 109.1 km away. Stopping at the closest line would miss the signal answering the work question.
Another close line changes the home question
Neptune IC, 30.6 km away, contributes caution about unclear boundaries at home. With the other Home signals, the comparison returns High home caution while Career caution remains Low. This astrocartography line distance evidence exposes a trade-off: support for work and comfort at home cannot be assumed to rise together.
Keep the distance in context
Astrocartography line distance questions
How close do I need to be to an astrocartography line?
You do not have to be directly on it. This map labels distances up to 120 km Strong, up to 250 km Nearby, up to 400 km Broad, and up to 644 km Wide. These astrocartography line distance bands organize proximity; they do not establish a radius inside which an event must happen. Your city reading adds the planet, angle, and goal context.
Is 200 miles too far from a line?
200 miles is about 322 km, in this map’s Broad band. That makes it wider background context rather than an exact-line location. An astrocartography line distance reading should still examine which line it is and whether closer signals matter more for the place and question you chose.
Does the closest line decide which city is best?
No. In this page’s synthetic example, New York is closer to Mars MC than London is to Sun MC, but London receives higher Career support. The comparison holds the birth details and goal constant while considering different planetary meanings. It demonstrates why distance alone cannot rank two cities, not that a farther line is always preferable.
Why do my map and city comparison show different lines?
The nearby map summary follows visible planetary lines and proximity. A city comparison also considers relevance to the selected goal and can include wider background signals. Check the complete planet–angle label, the same coordinate, and your map filters before comparing astrocartography line distance numbers. Two lists answering different questions need not have the same first line.
What if no line is close to my city?
The map can show the nearest available lines as weak background when none is within its usual 644 km summary range. That is a limited proximity result, not a negative verdict about living there. Do not manufacture strong support or danger from a distant line simply because it is the nearest one shown.
Can I trust a small distance difference with an unknown birth time?
Treat it as provisional. The generated map uses an estimated time when your birth time is unknown, so a precise-looking kilometer value does not resolve the uncertain input. Confirm the birth record before treating a small astrocartography line distance difference as a reason to prefer one place. This page does not determine your birth time.

What does the distance change for you?
Your astrocartography line distance answer should end with a place you can evaluate: the relevant line, its measured proximity, and the support or caution that matters to your question. Generate your map above and bring one familiar city or two realistic alternatives into the same reading.
